We are a High Shcool in Martinique, French West Indies and based on our shared culture and musical heritage would like to develop a lasting partnership with the Music Dept of a school in Louisiana.
The researches our dynamic Music Department has done, with the help of the Music Inspector, reveal that your State and our island have a common heritage of shared musical repertoires; we would like to improve our knowledge in these fields through a trip in your wonderful state. This would be the first leg to an exchange your visiting us would be the accomplishment of.
Our schedule for the trip would be as follows:
– Researches in the music schools in order to establish links between the writing of the New Orleans Jazz and the Martinique Biguine music.
– Understanding the early interaction between both music genres.
– Working with the music departments of your schools and performing of local Martinique pieces during joint concerts.
We are planning on putting together a Master Class of Initiation to Martinique Biguine music.
